French Fried Freedom

The last 7 days have been packed for me, both from an activity standpoint and from a metaphorical one as well. A week ago I was hosting the Johnson County Tea Party Texans Rally to November. It was an event underscoring just how important voting is to secure our freedoms. While the rains came and we started seeing animals pairing up in twos, the event turned out to be great with hard-core patriots in attendance and a list of speakers that would put any conservative rally to shame. I am glad I was a part of it.

A week later and I am literally on the other side of the globe in Dubai, UAE on business. Part of my journey involved a 5 hour layover in Paris at DeGaul International Airport. When I originally knew about the layover, I had visions of visiting Paris for some quick sight seeing, grab a few goodies for the family, etc. However, a 9 hour flight coming into Paris after a 2 hour flight from DFW to Atlanta that had a 2 hour layover there dampened that spirit. Air France also recommended “no touring” for layover guests due to current “political tensions” in Paris. You have to be kidding? Frenchi upset!?

Well, apparently Frenchi is mad and getting madder. Now I know for most of us, happenings in France are not worth the synapses firing in your head to read this blog. We all remember the political blow up over France’s stand on Iraq.

Ahh, it was fun to bash Frenchi.

The reality is that the US and France have more ties than we sometimes wish to admit. Without French influence, supplies and aid, we may never have gained our independence from Britain and King George. Our Lady the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French that has stood for freedom for over 234 years. Our ties to France enabled the sacrifice Americans gave when storming the beaches at Normandy and freeing Paris in WWII. We may have some generational issues and differences of opinion, but our two nations still have influence on the other.

I guess my Texas drawl lures conservatives from all walks of life, like flies to a bug zapper. My business partner & I were discussing the wonderful back pain from the trip when no less than 5 native Frenchis approached me asking me if I was from the US. After getting past some basic security  issues to be sure I was not about to be blown up, I started talking to France’s native sons and daughters. The crowd grew to over 30 in less than 10 minutes and political opinions were being served up piping hot.

There are riots in Paris right now over raising the retirement age from 60 & 65 to 62 &67. I asked my group how they felt about it and all replied that they had no issue with the creep in age. What was barking up most of France was a stark reality that even with the bump in age, there is no money to fund the retirements the government has committed to. Nothing short of skyrocketing taxes. That is what they are mad at. I asked the income tax rate and was given numbers from 40% in personal taxes.  However, increases would be levied on personal and real property, goods & services, etc. They feel the government has taken a good chunk of their money and has nothing to show for it. Does this sound familiar?

We talked about individual freedoms as well. I have been a fan of dirt bikes for years. So are the French it seems. Unfortunately, their environmental whackos have gotten the best of them in the laws books. France has passed laws where no cross-country or motocross events can be held outdoors on public or government lands – only private acreage. This is due to the so-called noise and air pollution caused at events. One man told me that a recent event inside a dome was cancelled by the Green Police for producing too much carbon in one place.

Now all of this is very relevent to the happenings stateside. When I went to Dover, London, and Calais in 2007 I saw what I had heard from liberals in their rants for change the US – the downsizing of America in more ways than one. Smaller families, cars, homes, consumer goods – you name it. Oh and no guns. This is the current siege Europe is under and the liberals want to make the USA look and feel just like it. We have seen this agenda in what Barry and the Obamanites want in the US.

Here is the funny part – Europe is sick of the liberal spending, lies, and encroachment to their liberties. Apparently the French have had it and are ready to get back to lower taxes, more individual freedoms, and being more responsible for themselves. Europe is watching the American Mid Terms with great detail, as the “Obama Agenda” was brought up by many there in the airport. Several comments of “He is unpopular, no” were blurted out in the conversation. Of course, I shared the NSA edited version for public airways opinion I have of Barry O. The roar of laughter was so much airport security checked up on us. That was cool.

I realize this does not represent all of France, but it was surprising and refreshing to have such a large conservative sampling in an airport talking politics. Maybe Frenchi is gaining posture to be a true ally once again.

They did have some cool ideas once upon a time……….

Ten Days to Changing of the Guard

Just in case you have been sleeping under a rock, early voting began Monday October 18, 2010. With few exceptions, voter turnout is up all over the nation. On average, Republicans appear to have the current upper edge 47 to 40 percent in votes cast. However, do not count the Dems out.  The 40% is higher than what was anticipated and no one has an indication of what this weekend will hold when folks can get a chance to vote that cannot during the week.

There are no hard and fast numbers on how early voting numbers project election day results, but the trend is for more and more Americans to vote early and be done. Through October 21st, 3 million Americans had cast their ballot. That number could be equalled over the weekend.

As Conservatives, we have 10 days to get liked minded people to the polls to change the guard and begin the process of restoring liberty to our great nation. Ten days to get people off the couch that may not see the light through the tunnel of the current dark ages. Ten days to start the changing of the guard.

Not that we need a reminder, but here are few reasons (the list is wayyyyy too long to hit in its entirety) we must get people to the polls NOW:

  •  Congress has passed 2, trillion-dollar plus budgets we cannot pay for
  • Congress has passed Obamacare
  • The US House passed Cap & Trade (Crap & Tax)
  • Obama broke the law with GM/Chrysler stock debacle and Congress stood by and applauded
  • This Congress has enthusiastically shredded the Constitution for the Anointed One

In short, we are in battle mode. Just as when Paul Revere made his famous Midnight Ride and warned colonists that the British were coming, as conservative patriots we must wake the masses and alert them to the fact the socialists are here and now is our first chance at stopping their advance.

Let the ride begin!

Rahmbo

With the resignation of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel last Friday to pursue the Mayoral seat for Chicago, Democrats seemed to display mixed emotion on his departure. They were saddened by losing the force behind the Congressional change of 2006, yet happy that Obama had finally identified his sacrifice  for the failed policies facing his presidency in its first two years. Yes, boys and girls – Rahmbo’s name will begin to surface more and more in DC as an over aggressive Chief Of Staffer whose personal ambitions got in the way of the Great One’s benevolent agenda. As the Republicans are lining up to feast at the Congressional table, the Dems are trying to serve up a heaping pile of goat to deflect from the Great One. When the final toll for November sounds a defeat for Barry O’s Communist policies, every slow moving mammel available will be sacrificed on the political altar.

Now, do not think for one moment that Obama is abandoning Rahmbo. On the contrary, what is unfolding before our eyes is a staged repositioning. Obama’s political pit bull has been re-directed back to the machine that helped create the current mess in DC. While Rahmbo is being set up to take the DC political fall for Obama, he is also being rewarded for his service to the Democrat Party.

Look at the facts: He was national campaign director for the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee in 1988. Emanuel then cut his teeth fundraising for the retiring Richard Daley back in 1989. He then helped then Governor Clinton fundraise his way to becoming President in 1992 and later became an advisor for Clinton.  In 2000, President Clinton named him to the Board of Directors for Freddie Mac. Hmm, see any patterns here? He ran for Congress in 2002 in the seat Rod Blogojevich resigned to seek the Illinois Governorship. He went back to the DCCC in 2006 and was the architect for the Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006.  As I have wrote many times, the Dems have been in control for 4 years, not 2. In short, Rahmbo is presidential timber to the Dems. Remember this in 2016 or 2020……

However, like all good soldiers, Rahmbo has his weaknesses. A fan of universal healthcare, Rahmbo was a driving force for this initiative during the Clinton years. That push, along with other reasons, was a dominant factor in the Republican Revolution of 1994. Sixteen years later as White House Chief of Staff, Rahmbo’s personal social stamp are all over Obama’s agenda. The recent Healthcare bill was put together by Emanuel for Obama. That bill is now a rallying call for every Constitutional Conservative in the Nation and will be one of the key reasons the Republicans will take over Congress in November.

The Chicago Machine
So how do you be the scapegoat and get the dream job at the same time? Look no further than the Windy City to accommodate this function. Rahmbo’s resignation to “pursue the dream of being Mayor of Chicago” is a strict set up and pay back for this soldier. Pull the blogs and read about how Mayor Richard Daley’s resignation was “sudden & unexpected”, that “no one saw this coming”. That’s true. It takes a few months to set up a political swap. Rahmbo declared his desire back in the spring after the passage of the healthcare bill. There is no doubt he and Barry O saw what this could become and started planning for  Rahmbo’s departure then. Emanuel has been advisor to Mayor Daley and former Governor Blagojevich and was friends with Barry O back to his State Assembly days. In short – he is in with the Chicago elite.

For most politicos going from Chief of Staff at the White House to campaigning for Mayor would seem a huge demise. However, the Chicago Machine has been good to Rahmbo and will keep him visible and ready for when the call comes for this soldier to go back to war for the Democrats.
